Wheaton Arts Celebrates Glass Art,
Offers Family Friendly Fun for All Ages
South Jersey has a long history in the art of American glass production. From the early 18th century through the late 20th century, names like Wistarburgh (the first glass manufacturer in America), Wheaton Glass, Stanger Glass, Whitney Glass and others produced unique and high quality glass works that were used all over the country. Today, that history is celebrated and skilled artists pass on the art of glassmaking to others at Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in Millville NJ.

The centerpiece of Wheaton Arts is the Museum of American Glass – home to the most comprehensive collection of American glass in the country with over 20,000 glass objects on display. The museum collection includes the world’s largest bottle, the first bottles made in America, and amazing glass works by Dale Chihuly and other contemporary glass artists. Tours of the museum are offered daily.
In the Wheaton Arts Glass Studio, visitors can watch as skilled glass artists create world class glass art. “Make Your Own” experiences allow visitors to get hands on and create beautiful paperweights, vases or bowls with the guidance of a master glassblower.
In addition to the Glass Studio, Wheaton Arts is home to craft studios where gifted artists demonstrate the art of ceramics and flameworking. Stained glass and paper studios are open during special events and for classes.
Wheaton Arts is situated on 45 scenic wooded acres that offer a picturesque setting for a stroll (there is a lovely one mile looping nature trail on the grounds) or afternoon picnic.
