NJ Lighthouses Mark National Lighthouse Day With Special Events, Free Climbs
August 7th is National Lighthouse Day! This day marks the 229th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. Lighthouse Service. Several New Jersey lighthouses are planning special National Lighthouse Day activities including free admission to the lighthouses at some locations! New Jersey National Lighthouse Day Events – 2018
National Lighthouse Day at Absecon Lighthouse
On National Lighthouse Day, Kids up to age 14 can climb the Absecon Lighthouse for free from 10am to 5pm. Later in the day, the Absecon Lighthouse will host a Full Moonrise Climb, Wine Tasting & Garden Party from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. $20 per person, includes light snacks, wine tasting, lighthouse climb, and live jazz by the Eddie Morgan Band.
National Lighthouse Day at Barnegat Lighthouse
Celebrate National Lighthouse Day at Barnegat Lighthouse! Special kids’ activities are planned throughout the day (10am to 4:00pm). Regular climbing fees apply. $3 per person ages 12 and older, $1 per person ages 6 to 11, children under 5 free.
National Lighthouse Day at the Cape May Lighthouse
Celebrate National Lighthouse Day at the Cape May Lighthouse! Make your own crafts, listen to songs of the sea, meet the lighthouse keepers, shop for nautical merchandise and more, all on the grounds of the Cape May Lighthouse. Free admission to the activities, separate admission to climb the lighthouse. Free admission to the grounds and activities; Kids climb the lighthouse free with a paying adult ($8).
National Lighthouse Day at Hereford Inlet Lighthouse
Hereford Inlet Lighthouse will celebrate National Lighthouse Day with a special ceremony at 2pm. Special guest speakers include members of the Coast Guard and NJ State Police Marine Units. Admission to the Lighthouse is free from 9am to 4pm.
