Visitors to Gateway National Recreation Area are invited to stop by to chat with the Army Ground Forces Association volunteers and learn more about Battery Gunnison – New Peck restoration and the historic time period of February 1943 at Fort Hancock. February 2018 marks the 75th anniversary of the conversion of the battery from Gunnison to New Peck.  The conversion entails moving Battery Peck’s guns to Battery Gunnison, modernizing the structure, and creating “New Battery Peck.” This is a free event.
