Who makes the best chowder in NJ?
New Jersey-ans to decide at 28th Annual Chowderfest.
Get ready to slurp some chowdah!!! Chowderfest 2016 Weekend returns to Long Beach Island on October 1st and 2nd and this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever!
Always held a week prior to Columbus Day weekend, Chowderfest Weekend has become a Jersey shore tradition, providing New Jerseyans with a fun weekend to close out the summer season and welcome cool, crisp days of fall that are just right for sipping and slurping chowder. The 28th Annual Chowderfest cook-off event takes place at the Taylor Avenue ball field in Beach Haven (11am to 4pm) on Sunday, October 2nd and features thousands of gallons of red and white chowder prepared by 16 of New Jersey’s most popular eateries. Attendees have the opportunity to sample unlimited chowder and vote for their favorites while enjoying live entertainment, other delicious specialty foods, and a beautiful fall day on Long Beach Island.
In addition to the chowder cook-off, Chowderfest 2016 will also feature the Merchants Mart on Saturday, October 1st. This free admission sidewalk sale features dozens of Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce members and is a great opportunity to scoop up some great end-of-summer deals while enjoying live music, specialty foods, cold beer, and special kid-friendly activities. The Chowderfest Merchant Mart runs from 10am to 4pm at the Taylor Avenue field.
General admission to Chowderfest 2016 is $25 for adults and $10 for children (ages 4 to 12). VIP tickets (includes early access entry and an official Chowderfest 2016 t-shirt) are also available for $50. Advance ticket purchase and additional information on Chowderfest 2016 is available online at chowderfest.com.
